Write a letter to The Queen TODAY.

Defend your country - join us in writing letters to Her Majesty The Queen asking her to withhold the Royal Assent to the Treaty of Nice. This is in support of a Lords petition to the Queen asking the same under Clause 61 of Magna Carta. To be effective we need millions of letters, that means YOURS too!

The Treaty of Nice is another major step in the invasion of our country, an invasion by treaty not tanks, and more effective for being an invasion by stealth.

The Nice Treaty threatens many of our traditional freedoms and liberties:

• Removal of our right of veto in virtually all areas means unaccountable foreign bureaucrats can tell us what to do and we cannot stop them. This goes from control of our airspace, through how we run our companies, how we produce our food, to how we are allowed to climb a ladder.

• Justice and Home affairs - continental ideas of justice are gradually taking over. Our centuries old system of justice is being eroded, it even means that an armed, foreign police force (Europol), with immunity from prosecution, not under control of the Crown, might be at large in our land.

• Abolition of the pound - the possibility of this happening without our approval is opened up by majority voting.

• The European Court of Justice will be able to operate with no restrictions whatsoever on its jurisdiction - it becomes the highest court in the land.

• Unapproved political parties can be suspended - what more effective way of suppressing dissent?

Since the time of Heath we have been lured ever deeper into this "Fortress Europe", they now want to slam the cell door shut once and for all.

The only time we have ever been asked about our membership of the European Union was in 1975 when we were asked if we wanted to STAY in the Common Market (then purely a free trade area). We have never been asked about subsequent treaties.

• No one asked if we wanted EU laws imposed on us.

• No one asked if we wanted our agriculture and fishing industries destroyed.

• No one asked if if we wanted all that regulation.

• No one asked if we wanted to give up the right to say how our country is run.

We have been betrayed.

Enough is enough.

It is OUR country, it does not belong to a political elite.

If they won't ask us, then we have to tell them.

Our Government has already signed the Treaty of Nice, it now has to be ratified by Parliament, then, critically, it has to be given the Royal Assent by The Queen before it becomes law.

Under a Constitutional Monarchy The Queen is obliged to be the spokeswoman of the Government.

BUT, where there is a dispute between the People and the Government she has the power of last resort to intervene and the Lords are petitioning her to do just that under Clause 61 of Magna Carta. For her to be able to do so she must have clear evidence that there is a dispute between the People and the Government, with enough letters demonstrating that dispute she can force a referendum - the ratification of the treaty can then be put before you, the People.
